Christmas Bells

Close upOne day I found a small silver bell on the Santa Seat as I started my day at Silver City Mall. After picking it up and holing it in my gloved hand, I began to shake it as one would shake a pair of dice. I wondered what kind of sound it would make, expecting that size bell to make a tinkling or jingling noise. Much to my surprise, it made a very pleasing sound, much like the sweet tone of a distant sleigh bell.

If you have a Christmas story that’s still fresh in your mind, write it down so you can share it with me. I’d love to share it on this site when I resume Skype and phone calls in March. Just Click: SELECT “Skype or Call From Santa” to find out how.

Another time, a young boy brought a bell to me that looked much like a bell a teacher would have on her desk. It was a little bigger, with a handle, a clapper and everything. He said I could strike it; and when I did, (ever so gently) it rang with a pure, sweet, exquisite tone, similar to that of striking an elite wine glass.

Always remember that the Bell is a wonderful symbol of The Christmas Spirit, and that the true Spirit of Christmas lives in your heart.

Sharing The Joyful Sound,

Santa

Good…..And Nice

Close upEveryone knows that Santa is making a list and he’ll be checking it twice to find out who’s being naughty or nice. Children often come up to me and ask if they are on the good list. In this post, I’d like to answer the question: “What’s the difference between being Good and being Nice?”

Did you know you can visit with Santa via Skype or phone call?  That’s right….. Santa can sing along with you or read you a Christmas story. Just click: SELECT “Skype or Call From Santa” to find out how! After Christmas, Santa will take a break and settle in for a long Winter’s nap. Keep up with the website to find out when he will resume all calls.

Let’s think about what it means to be good. Being good is listening intently, following directions, obeying the law and doing what’s right, for goodness sake. This is all about behavior and making wise choices.

Being nice is all about living up to “The Golden Rule.”…..Treating others the way you would like to be treated. This is all about attitude and building lasting relationships with kindness, sharing, caring, fairness, loyalty and love. You see, there is really only one List. Everybody’s name is on it. There are four (4) boxes after each Name:     ___ Good     ___ Bad     ___ Naughty     ___ Nice.

A little boy was overheard to pray, “Dear God, make all the people good, and all the good people nice.” If only adults would pay attention to the LIST as much as children do, what a better place this ‘ol world would be.

Just Checking,

Santa

Gift Request

Santa at computerA young boy from Massachusetts made quite an impression on me today as he presented his Christmas gift requests. After listening to his long list, I said: “Santa might have to pick and choose from that list. Would that be alright with you?” Right away, he said: “Sure, Santa. If I don’t get everything on my list, then I’ll be thankful for what I have.” I told him that was the right spirit to have, and that I was proud of him for feeling that way.

I’m so glad to report the boy I met today is on Santa’s Good List. When I told his grandpa about it, he was very proud of his grandson and asked, “Did he really say that on his own?” Indeed, we are never too young to learn to be content with what we have.

Blessings,

Santa

HO-HO-HO

Over the years, I have learned that you never know what children are going to ask or say. A young girl came up to me at the mall and asked: “Santa, what does HO-HO-HO mean?” I laughed with a HO-HO-HO and said, “That’s Santa’s Big Laugh.”

Sometimes Santa laughs with ha-ha-ha, sometimes with he-he-he, sometimes it’s even hey, hey, hey; but most of all, Santa announces himself with a resounding HO-HO-HO, which has becoSanta Waving Close upme his signature laugh.

Highways And Byways

Santa Waving Close upI talked with Michael and Peyton, who are on a big holiday trip with their mom and dad. They started out in South Florida and are on their way to the state of Maine. That’s a long way to travel. In fact, it’s as long as the entire Eastern Coastline of the United States. We had a good visit and Peyton and Michael told me what they would like for Christmas.

Michael and Peyton’s big trip reminded me just how far the reindeer and I travel on Christmas Eve…..WOW! Be safe out there.

The Old Stand-byes

Santa at computerNo matter how advanced technology becomes, the traditional favorites continue to top the list of most asked for Christmas presents. The children who come to see me at the mall most frequently ask for bikes and baby dolls. One year there was a run on Drums because some communities had such a powerful drum line.

That being said, I can never fully prepare for all the requests until the children make their wishes known. (that includes all grown children, as well)

Thomas Is Noticed Again

Aunt Rebecca called and said, “I have another ‘Thomas Story’ for you, Santa.” I was intrigued, and couldn’t wait to hear what 6 year old Thomas was up to, so I took a little break and listened intently as Auntie told me Close upabout her lunch date with Thomas’ family

It was raining in Houston that day, with scattered showers, so you never knew when you were going to need an umbrella. It’s a good thing Aunt Becki keeps two umbrellas in her car, because she was able to share them with Thomas and his family as they walked from the car to the restaurant.

When they got inside, Aunt Becki was carrying the two umbrellas. Thomas noticed and said, “It looks like you need some help, Aunt Becki. Let me hold them.” He held them about as long as a 6 yr. old can, but remember, “It’s the thought that counts.”

Santa At The Mall

Santa Waving Close up

From Mid-November ’til Christmas Eve. Santa will appear at shopping malls, car dealerships and a variety of retail stores, parties, hospital and home visits and other community events. He always appreciates the opportunity to share the JOY of the Season.

Even shopping takes on a happier tone when the Christmas Music starts to play and the shoppers are motivated by a spirit of love and generosity. People seem to take on the spirit of giving as they search for treasures to share with their loved ones. This keeps Santa and his helpers very busy.

It does my heart good when YOU do something nice for someone else. I love to see that happen, even at the mall, as I wave and share a Ho-Ho-Ho…..Merry Christmas!

Loving The Life,

Santa

Two Little Boys

Santa Waving Close upThis story is about Thomas and Blaise Bohannon of Houston, TX. I like watching these two brothers in action. Well, let me tell you how they surprised their dad one day. They were feeling chilly as they were waiting to be seated at an air conditioned restaurant. Their dad said it was o.k. for the boys to wait outside on the porch where they could warm up.

Thomas and Blaise went in and out a couple of times, and the last time they came in, they left the door open. Dad rushed over to give the boys “The Look” and he saw that they were intensely focused on an elderly man in a wheel chair being pushed up the ramp. He then, went back to wait in line, and did nothing to prevent the boys from holding the door for someone in need.

The neat thing about Thomas and Blaise is the fact that they decided all on their own to help the elderly man. It is never too early to practice random acts of kindness.

Two Little Girls

Close upI was inquiring about two girls who are best buds. Soraya and Isabella are together most of the time. When you see one you see the other. I was reminded of a time last year that created a “Near Miss” for one of the girls.

Back to the story…..It was last year, just before Christmas, and 5 year old,Soraya and 6 year old Isabella were playing. After awhile Soray’s Gramma felt like she needed to step in and say something. She asked Isabella: “Aren’t you being a little bossy?” To this, Isabella stood up straight, put her hands on her hips and said, “I’m not bossy, I’m giving directions!”

After that “Close Call”, both girls ended up on the nice list and received lots of presents from Santa. Remember, it’s not only what you DO that counts, but also what you SAY.

Love,

Santa
